In the kitchen...
Ben and his team have just put the finishing touches to our Christmas menu. We had a tasting preview yesterday, and boy did we eat it all up! From citrus cured chalk stream trout (pictured here) to hot roast mackerel with sweet sour salsa, to crisp venison croquette with its melting insides and deeply savoury mushroom spelt risotto with velvety Jerusalem artichokes, the menu is wintery and satisfying, flavoursome and elegant all at the same time.
Unmissable: Croissant bread and butter pudding with housemade mincemeat and cinnamon ice cream. 🥐🍦

Nathan will be curing and roasting our own house hams too. He is excited to talk through any of your cooking ideas for the season, stop by for a chat.

Our friends and neighbours, who have won Gold for their Extra-Mature Cheddar and Bronze for younger sister Jersey milk cheese Ogleshield at this year's prestigious World Cheese Awards in Norway. We're saluting friends Whitelake cheese down the road in Shepton Mallet too, whose goat and sheep cheeses have won several Silver and Bronze medals this year. And celebrating other winners from around the country: Cornish Kern, Wigmore, Colston Bassett. Rollright, Bath Soft Cheese and Yarlington.
